Jamie offers exceptional ADR skills as a mediator, arbitrator and adjudicator.

Jamie has broad expertise in insurance litigation, including general and professional liability, LTD and personal injury claims, and commercial litigation. Jamie also has significant expertise in sexual abuse claims.

Jamie took a leading role in the design, implementation and management of the dispute resolution processes for the historic sexual abuse claims at Mount Cashel Orphanage and adjudicated hundreds of the claims.

Jamie acts as a Dispute Resolution Authority for Health Authority Nova Scotia in appeals from the denial of LTD claims and in that capacity has mediated, arbitrated and adjudicated dozens of appeals.

Jamie has authored seminars on mediation ethics and mediation best practices accredited for CPD by the Law Society of Ontario and has presented seminars to dozens of leading law firms. In addition, Jamie has for many years been a contributor to the LexisNexis Practical Guidance Canada module on Litigation & Dispute Resolution.

Jamie is a former member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of Osgoode Hall Law School. Jamie served as a member of the Executive of both the Canadian Bar Association National ADR Section and Ontario Bar Association ADR Section. Jamie is the former Chair of the Canadian Lawyers’ Subcommittee of DRI’s Lawyers’ Professionalism and Ethics Committee.

Prior to his ADR practice, Jamie practiced law at a national law firm, both as a litigation partner and as General Counsel, the first such appointment at a Canadian law firm.

Jamie received his B.A.(Hons.) from Queen’s University and his J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School.
