Alex Voudouris

During his 35-year career practicing law, Alex has acquired a unique and invaluable experience, spending an equal amount of time representing plaintiffs and defendants. This has provided him with a deep understanding of the interests and realities that each party brings to the mediation table. He understands the concerns and goals of plaintiffs and, at the same time, the complexity of the decision-making process of insurers. Additionally, his Trial experience adds to his capacity to understand and assess the risks and likely outcomes of a case. Consequently, he is very skilled at engaging the parties in the risk analysis required in each room to build the foundation for resolution. Alex understands the benefits of settling a case rather than taking it to trial with all of its inherent risks, costs and unpredictability.

Alex has received the endorsement of his peers from both sides of the Bar, having been voted over numerous years as a Best Lawyer and a Lexpert ranked Lawyer. He has assumed leadership positions in several professional organizations, including being on the Board of Directors of the Medical Legal Society of Toronto and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. He was also a member of the Canadian Defence Lawyers Association and has Co-Chaired and presented at several of their Seminars.

Alex created and Co-Chairs Osgoode Hall’s Certificate Program in Motor Vehicle Law and Practice (Tort and SABS), for two decades he has Co-Chaired Osgoode’s annual Accident Benefit Seminar, Trained Tribunals Ontario Adjudicators for the Ministry of the Attorney General, and has been appointed by the Ministry of the Solicitor General to act a Referee in a Class Action involving Administrative Segregation in Ontario Jails.

Alex’s several precedent-setting cases before the Divisional Court and Court of Appeal are evidence of his capacity to successfully manage and tackle complicated factual and legal matters, an essential skill for a mediator navigating complex multiparty matters.

Alex brings his insight, knowledge of the law and depth of experience to the mediation table.
